Mr. Matthew Scott is a native of Hinds County and a product of the Hinds County School District.  He is a proud graduate of Terry High School.  After receiving Bachelor and Masters degrees in Accounting from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, Matthew returned home to teach at Terry High School.  

Mr. Scott currently serves as the Terry High School Principal.  In his seventeen years as an educator, Mr. Scott taught numerous math courses and computer science at the high school level and accounting courses at the collegiate level.  Mr. Scott previously served on the THS Administration Team as a Teacher and Student Liaison, Assistant Principal, Freshman Academy Principal, Career Academy Principal, and as the head boys basketball coach for the Terry Bulldogs.  

Mr. Scott was selected to serve as a 2023 Verizon Innovative Learning Schools Advisory Council member and was named the 2023 Hinds County School District Administrator of the Year.

Personally, Mr. Scott and his wife, Kristin, have one son, Christopher.  Mr. Scott also serves as the youth pastor of his local church.
